Phsar Thmey Located in Phnom Penh. This unique, art-deco building is a Phnom Penh landmark. Prior to 1935 the area was a lake that received the runoff during the rainy season. The lake was drained and the market Phsar Thmey, designed by French Architect Jean Desbois in 1934, was constructed in 1935-37. Now it is one of the business center in Phnom Penh. Phsar Thmey literally means new market, however the name central market has been used most of the time and has gained popularity among foreigners.
